Last week I finished collecting props for what I am hoping will be a popular vintage set. I found an antique ladder, an old suitcase, heirloom quilt, old hats, and even a fluffy old boa.
Since I want to have a good idea of how to arrange the set prior to working with it for clients, I decided to play with right outside my front door. Unfortunately as I was gathering all my supplies, I lost two vintage glass milk jugs. Bummer. I’ll have to keep my eyes open for other cool vintage items like old books, vases . . . anything fun pretty with character.
As I was adding the final touches to my set, my daughter’s friend wandered over and said she wanted to be photographed. Levi was already climbing on the antique ladder and Annabelle was playing with the hats and boa. Over the course of an hour, we played and played with the set, creating different combinations of props and having a blast. To be honest, I think this photo shoot tired the kids out. Which was good news for me since cleaning all of this up was no small task.
But before we were done, the girls asked if they could put on Annabelle’s fairy costumes and wander around the yard. At this point, Annabelle was a bit tired of the camera but her girlfriend was more than happy to be photographed. I love these photos of her.
Meanwhile, behind the scenes of the camera, our family is keeping busy. The kids are going to school, Annabelle is taking ballet, and I am working away on art projects, proposals, and client work. The exciting news is that we may start house hunting and make a move a few miles west of where we are currently living. What I am hoping this will mean is a little more space for the kids (larger rooms and a playroom), a less crowded rec room for my husband, and a longer studio for me. We would also love to have a bigger kitchen, a guest bedroom, and maybe, just maybe, one more room just in case another little one comes along. We shall see. I have to say, the prospect of house hunting is exciting and daunting. Committing to a place to live is a big decision and not one that I take lightly. I am praying that we find a new home in a great community with good people and many opportunities. Who doesn’t hope for that? Oh and a pool and a playground in walking distance would be nice too.
I will keep you all posted.
One more thing. Oh my goodness, I think Spring is coming! Bulbs are pushing up, the trees look like they are getting ready to bud, and the temperatures are supposed to be very warm. I welcome the warmer weather with open arms. Oh how I want to be outside more. Play with light, with color, with movement.
Be well. And until next time.
Warmly,
~me

A cardinal principle of Total Quality escapes a lot of managers: you can’t continuously improve interdependent systems and operations until you progressively perfect interdependent, interpersonal relationships.
That which you actually learn, from any given list of circumstances, determines whether we become increasingly powerless or higher powerful.
